ABOUT US

The Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) at Ball State University offers opportunities for pre-service teachers to further develop their interpersonal skills by working with individuals with disabilities and their families.

Throughout the semester, SCEC hosts a number of panels and events and works with Interlock, Erskine Green Training Inst., Beyond I CAN, East Central Indiana Therapeutic Riding Inc., and Special Olympics.

SCEC is like a vendor. We provide opportunities for you to interact with children and adults with disabilities outside of the classroom and work on your professional development.

Keep in mind, even if you are not majoring in Special Education, SCEC encourages you to be a part of our organization! We provide many service and volunteer credit hours, and we have a passion for working with students with exceptionalities. Anyone is welcome at SCEC regardless of their inalterable characteristics or their major. We encourage anyone who is passionate about special education or working with children to come to our events.
